The Leigh Sakoda Foundation celebrated Father’s Day by making a very important grant to a 34 year old woman who has been fighting a metastasized sacral chordoma, a very rare and hard to treat cancer found in the spinal cord. This patient has been fighting this disease for 5 years, including multiple chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Though she lives in Minnesota, she must travel to the Boston for specialized treatment and is the mother of two young children, ages five and one. She is unable to work due to pain and fatigue and the cost of travel back and forth to treatment has created a significant financial burden.
