“Trisha”

The Leigh Sakoda Foundation celebrated Leigh’s birthday by making a very important grant to a 21 year old woman diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT), a very rare and aggressive brain tumor with extremely poor prognosis. She lives in Massachusetts and has had intensive chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, and radiation therapy. Though she had started college prior to her diagnosis, she has not been able to keep up school and has had to live at home with her single mother who must pay her out of pocket medical expenses. The family has tried to raise money to pay all of their living expenses but still struggles to pay for rent, meals, and transportation to the hospital.
