“Rose”

The Leigh Sakoda Foundation celebrated Leigh’s birthday by making a very important grant to a 28 year old woman in Massachusetts who has been fighting ocular melanoma (cancer of the eye) for several years. Initially diagnosed in 2007, she attempted several forms of treatment before ultimately removing her eye. After stabilizing her disease and living several years on various treatment regimens, she and her husband decided to have a son who was born just 10 months ago. She recently learned that her disease has metastasized to her liver. She underwent a major surgery to remove large portions of tumor and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future.
